Frequently Asked Questions *
What is direct primary care?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a healthcare model where patients pay their provider a flat, recurring fee for a range of services. This model eliminates the need for traditional insurance or copays for routine care. It focuses on building a closer relationship between patients and their providers, offering more time for appointments, greater access to care, and often lower overall healthcare costs. DPC usually covers preventive care, basic health management, and some diagnostic tests, but patients may still need insurance for more specialized treatments outside the DPC practice.
What’s “different” about Direct Medical & Anti-Aging’s DPC model?
At Direct Medical & Anti-Aging, we include all the best parts of a DPC model while also incorporating services that are not typically part of a DPC model. Some of those services include, but are not limited to: functional medicine, gut health, detoxification therapies, hormone replacement therapies, metabolic optimization, medical Weight Loss, aesthetic procedure, and a general focus on overall preventative health and well-being.
What is functional medicine?
Functional medicine is a personalized approach to healthcare that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of disease, rather than just treating symptoms. Practitioners of functional medicine anchor their treatment plan in concepts of nutrition, supplementation, stress management, exercise, and other lifestyle adjustments to restore balance and optimize health. The goal is to empower patients to take an active role in their wellness and focus on long-term health improvements rather than just symptom management. While modern medicine treatment (prescriptions) are still sometimes necessary, direct medical and antiaging combines functional & traditional modalities to best treat patients holistically.
Do you take care of children?
Currently, our providers are licensed and board-certified to treat minors ages 14 years and older who have entered puberty. At this time, we are unable to treat any minor child who have not yet reached puberty.
Do you offer women’s health exams or prenatal care?
While our providers are qualified to perform pelvic exams and Pap smears, due to the many complexities of the women’s health specialty, the practice requires female patients to seek their women’s wellness & prenatal care from a board-certified OB/GYN. That said, our providers do address a multitude of hormonal issues in women, including, but not limited to, pre-Dash, Perry –, and post Dash menopausal care, various hormone replacement therapies, evaluation, and treatment of PCOS, along with many other hormone, mediated, chronic disease diseases. We would encourage you to arrange an appointment with one of our providers to review your history, perform a thorough evaluation, and prescribe a balanced functional medicine treatment plan specified to your needs.
